Yule Term at Kingsworth International School

Dear Kingsworth families,

Warmest wishes for the new term. This year’s Yule term promises many exciting things for our students in primary and secondary school. We have planned several highly-anticipated events including our annual door decorating competition in primary, and a series of festive outings to explore holiday markets, enjoy ice skating, and cheer for the amazing Cirque Bormann.

In addition to these festive moments, we will also be focusing on our Kingsworth core value for the term: Inclusion. During last month’s accreditation visit, we reflected on how the concept of inclusion has evolved within international education. Traditionally, it has referred to ensuring equal access to learning for all students. At Kingsworth, we have broadened our concept of inclusion to provide equitable academic support for our students, as well as a strong sense of community and belonging for every student.

In our classrooms, teachers differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including those of students acquiring English or French as an additional language. Beyond academics, we foster an inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity and encourages connection.

Our work on Inclusion builds on the value of Curiosity, introduced during the Autumn Term. Curiosity encourages students to be open-minded and to seek understanding — qualities that naturally lead to inclusive relationships and a more connected community.

In primary school we will work closely with students to explore inclusion through the lens of friendship and social belonging. Our secondary school will dedicate a week to explore inclusion with anti-bullying initiatives that foster deeper connections amongst the students and with a collaborative annual project where each class raises money for a charity of their choice.  It is through everyday interactions and thinking of others — in the classroom, with our friends, and as part of a larger society — that our school values take root.

We look forward to a joyful Yule term and encourage everyone to explore the Kingsworth values in their own lives as well.

Warm regards,

Dr Stephanie Mounier, Head of Primary
